About

Pioneer Farms is nestled in the Inland Empire of Washington State about 40 miles west of Spokane.  Focused on sensible and sustainable practices.

We grow all of our lavender on site and do not source it from any other growers.  This means you can be assured that you are getting the best possible product.  It also means that we do not have an unlimited inventory.  Our production runs are governed by Mother Nature and what the plants are capable of producing.  We hope you enjoy using our products as much as we enjoyed bringing them to you!

Committed to the Environment

There are two methods to extract the oils from the lavender plant: chemical extraction or distillation.  We use the latter.  It is a simple and natural process to push steam thru the hand cut flowers and stems.  The steam evaporates the oil and both pass through a cold water condenser.  From there the fluid is captured and allowed to set while the oil rises to the top of the water.  After about a week, the oil can then be skimmed off the top of the water and used in all of our fabulous smelling and therapeutic mixtures.  The water that is left still  has a good bit of oil dissolved in it so we bottle that pure hydrosol.  The plant material from the distillation process is returned to the soil in the form of compost.  Nothing is wasted in a natural chemical free process.
